Most Bayport homes were built decades ago with cast iron drain lines that collect debris differently than modern PVC pipes. Hair, soap scum, and grease stick to the rough interior surfaces and build up over time.
Tree roots are another big issue here. The mature trees that make Bayport beautiful also send roots searching for water, and they find it in your sewer lines. Once roots get in, they catch everything that goes down the drain.
Many homes also have floor drains in basements that don’t get used regularly. When they dry out, debris settles in the trap and creates blockages. Regular water usage keeps these drains flowing, but if you don’t use your basement much, problems develop.
